The ambiance is the best part. The food was good but it felt like my stuff had been sitting awhile before they brought it to me because the top was all kind of stuck together. I would prefer Thai canteen for pad Thai because it's more flavorful and in my opinion better quality for a better price. The service was also good as there were 8 of us there

We came here to run away from the Monday scaries and there were other people here on the run too. There is an extensive menu with a variety of options for almost everyone's taste for Thai food including vegetarian, seafood, curries, and appetizers. The portions were much larger than expected and come out as family style to our surprise haha. Funny conversation we had btw when we ordered ginger beer but weren't sure and it went like that We: hi, is this a ginger ale or ginger beer? Waiter: I don't know, what did you order? We: we ordered ginger beer Waiter: well then that is what it is

First time after a long time away from Sophia's. I went with a friend, ordered the Red Curry lunch special with chicken. It was good, but not mind blowing. The spring roll was delicious. Service and ambiance reasonable and chill as I remember it being. I am sure I'll be back with friends/coworkers if they wanted to come here, but personally I prefer some of the dishes at Thai Canteen two doors down.

I always come here for the curry noodles, my friends and I have been obsessed with them since college. I usually get it with green curry and chicken, as the flavors balance together well with soup and noodles. Their pad kra pao is also very flavorful, but would definitely recommend getting it with rice as there needs to be something to balance the strong flavors. I like that they offer various brews (both local and less local), and was pleasantly surprised by the 2 Towns Ciderhouse cosmic apple cider they had. I'm usually not big on ciders, but loved the taste! Service wasn't slow but wasn't fast either. There are options to dine inside or outside, it's a bit darker inside but the decoration fits the darker lighting. Overall, definitely a Davis classic!

I love the vibe of Sophia's! It's lively and energetic for sure. It does get very crowded and there isn't a whole lot of space for sitting. The drinks are decent! Though I wish there were a few more options. As for the food, I can't judge it fairly as I don't necessarily go to Sophia's for the food, but I would love to give it a try!

My husband and I were craving Thai food and decided to try Sophia's, a spot we've passed by before and noticed live music in the bar area. We chose to sit outside in the restaurant section, and to our surprise, on a Saturday night at 7 PM, there was no wait. We were seated right away at a lovely outdoor table, and the weather was perfect for al fresco dining. We ordered the Massaman curry, a side of rice, and drunken noodles with tofu. The food arrived quickly, the portions were generous, and everything was delicious! It's not a fancy place, but it's cute, clean, and welcoming. For our first visit, we were impressed, and we'll definitely be back. Plus, our meal was under $50, which was a great value!

Cozy restaurant with a large outdoor seating that I frequented often in my undergrad days and still visit afterward when I go to Davis! The service friendly but wait times can take at bit on Friday night and Saturday night, so try and get yourself on the list. I always get the tofu massaman curry and chicken pineapple fried rice. Well spiced, super fresh food. I taste the pineapple and peanut flavors and coconut milk in the massaman. Also really enjoy how there's yellow curry fried into the fried rice, it really shows in a perfect texture. Some of my favorite Thai food ever. The drinks here are also super delicious and strong!! I got the lychee cooler. I believe it's also reasonably priced but I'm also used to Bay Area prices. 10/10!

Last Thursday I met up with a good friend of mine to try this place out in downtown Davis! We've dined at various locations together, but we both wanted to try Sophia's. Lunch was a good time to come. It wasn't too busy, and most people were sitting in the covered patio area. We opted to sit inside and were seated right away. It was quiet inside and clean. My friend chose the pad Thai lunch special, which comes with a side salad and a veggie egg roll. For $14 it was a good portion size, and we both tried the noodles. They had a good wok flavor and the tofu was bouncy and chewy! We liked how many peanuts she got to sprinkle over her pad Thai. I chose the red curry noodles instead of a lunch special. You have a choice of red or green curry. For $18 it was a good size, a bit on the pricey side, but ultimately I could not finish my curry noodles and took some leftovers home. The curry was rich and I asked for the spice rack so I could put some chili flakes in the soup, which added another dimension to the flavor. There was a good amount of chicken and the veggies were all cooked perfectly, and had a good bite. The noodles were a bit clumped together, but the dish does come with wide rice noodles. However, they were not overcooked and still had a good mouthfeel to them. We both chose Thai tea and were pleasantly surprised to find that they offer unlimited refills, as long as you are sitting down. You cannot take unfinished Thai tea to go. For $4, the Thai tea was actually really good, and not watered down like some other restaurants'. Sophia's also offers beers and other alcoholic drinks, but we were there for lunch and as it was our first time, we just wanted to try the classic dishes. I would definitely come back with my husband and order a beer next time though. Overall, for downtown Davis, the price is on the higher side, but the service is fantastic, the glasses they use for water and drinks are very cool (they're shaped like bamboo trunks), the dishes that the food is served on are made of quality plastic, the takeout containers are some of the best I've seen, the food is pretty great, and I would like to come back and try their other dishes.
